I entered this world in a rebellious state of mind.
I am a German born, Chicago based painter. I immigrated, with my family, to the United States at the age of nine. My mother would describe me as a willful child. I attribute this independent spirit to my creative nature.
Scraps of paper and pencil were my first tools. Through independent study and workshops I found my niche in mixed medial painting. In addition to that pencil I work with charcoal, graphite, ink, acrylic, oil, cold wax, sand, marble dust, molding paste and joint compound.
I enjoy using unconventional tools such as a silicone scraper, expired credit cards, and fallen branches. Some of my more interesting lines are made with sticks and weeds I find while walking around my neighborhood.
After 37 years in the corporate world, I am living a life I love, spending my days in my studio, with my two muses, Max & Mollie (our Cavalier King Charles spaniels).
My other passions include my family, gardening, cooking, walking, sitting in silence, and reading.
Where I create, there I am true. Rainer Maria Rilke
